DAWSON CREEK (NEWS1130) - It's a disturbing case of animal cruelty that has outraged people across the country; a video has surfaced, showing someone burning a deer in Dawson Creek.
The video was posted to Facebook last night. That's how RCMP and animal cruelty investigators in Dawson Creek found out about it.Their offices were flooded with tons of complaints; people are demanding something be done.
The footage appears to have been taken by a cell phone; it runs about 30 seconds and it sounds like the driver who hit the animal is doing all the talking.
"It's a deer I just hit on the highway. Drug it for a while. It's on fire now. Yeah, deer be warned," a man's voice can be heard saying on the video. The animal looks like it's tied to the back of a pick-up truck by a chain."Don't f*** with me," he says, laughing. "F***, that deer's burning good."
Some people on Facebook have named who they believe the narrator is, but police are not saying if they've spoken to him. Soon after the videowas posted, nearly 500 people had left a comment.
BC conservation officers are now handling the case.
